“Northwest Reading Clinic has been a great help with my reading, writing, and comprehension skills. Their staff is very kind and nice. I liked that it is a private lesson with only my teacher and me. Their techniques are very clever and helped me remember what I needed to remember. It was a great experience and I hope to visit them again."

Symptoms of Writing Weakness
-
•Unable to organize ideas
-
•DIfficulty with spelling, punctuation, and grammar
-
•Frustration when writing
Our Students
People who have difficulty reading, spelling, and comprehending often have trouble with writing. Writing involves many skills, and for students with learning disabilities it is often overwhelming to try to simultaneously generate ideas, organize them, put them into words and sentences, physically write those sentences, and use correct spelling and grammar. This often leads to feelings of frustration and low self-confidence in writing.
Our Method
Students at Northwest Reading Clinic learn to:
-
•Use a four-step writing process to break down the task of writing
-
•Organize their writing using a pre-writing map
-
•Use strategies to revise and edit their work
-
•Write in various age-appropriate genres
-
“It’s wonderful to see students get excited about writing. Once they learn to approach writing in a step-by-step way, it’s no longer overwhelming and frustrating"
